Meet Wilbert
Wilbert van den Dolder grew up fishing the rivers and coastline of the UK with light tackle. For him, fishing has always been about feeling every take, every run, and every fight.
When he moved to Knysna, South Africa, he fell in love with the estuary and species diversity, but the same old problem followed him: wind and current constantly pulling baits out of position.
So he decided to fix it.
The Problem with Conventional Fishing
With traditional shore fishing, you are only in the strike zone for a small part of your session. Wind and current push floats and bait out of position, and repeated casting quickly burns through live bait.
MiBuoy was built to keep light tackle where it should be for longer, without heavy casting and without fighting conditions every few minutes.
Three Months. Sixteen-Hour Days.
What started as a rough wooden prototype became a three-month obsession. Every iteration refined buoyancy, trigger sensitivity, tracking, and stability.
The result is MiBuoy: tested and refined for real-world sessions and designed to perform consistently in practical fishing conditions.
Proudly Made in Knysna
Every MiBuoy is built with care by a small team on the Garden Route.
